Bayern's sports director Christoph Freund commented on rumors regarding central defender Dayot Upamecano's potential move to Real Madrid. The Munich club has not yet managed to convince the French footballer to extend his contract, which is set to expire next summer.
According to reports in the press, the player has given verbal consent to join Real Madrid as a free agent. "We are in negotiations with Upamecano regarding a new contract.
He feels very comfortable at Bayern. Perhaps he might be of interest to other clubs, but our goal is to take all measures to keep him," journalist Fabrizio Romano quotes Christoph Freund as saying.
Dayot Upamecano has been playing for Bayern since 2021. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is 60 million euros.
