Modric to Play in His Fifth World Cup

The Croatian national team has secured its spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The qualification was decided in a match against the Faroe Islands, in which the "Checkered Ones" claimed a 3-1 victory.

The 40-year-old Luka Modric played for 62 minutes in the match. The "Milan" midfielder earned the opportunity to participate in the fifth FIFA World Cup of his career.

This record could have been even higher, had Croatia not failed to progress from the qualification stage in 2010. The Croatian national team became the third European team to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

It should be noted that, for the first time, the tournament's final stage will feature 48 teams instead of 32. Luka Modric has played 193 matches for the Croatian national team, scoring 28 goals and providing 31 assists.
