Former Moscow CSKA defender and member of the Soviet Union national team, Vladimir Ponomaryov, harshly criticized Valery Karpin, head coach of Moscow's "Dynamo" and the Russian national team. Teams managed by Karpin failed to achieve success during November's BetBoom matches: a 1-1 draw against Peru and a 0-2 loss to Chile.
"Not every great football player can become a coach. Karpin is not a coach; he neither understands the players nor football.
He is merely playing the role of a coach as if he were a character in a Shakespeare play," Ponomaryov said in an interview with *Sovetskiy Sport*. It should be noted that Karpin has been managing the Russian national team since 2021.
The team is currently ranked 30th in the FIFA rankings. Additionally, Karpin also manages Moscow's "Dynamo" club, which currently stands in 10th place in the Russian Premier League.
