Former Czech national team footballer Pavel Nedvěd shared his insights on the upcoming World Cup qualification play-off matches. In the semi-finals, scheduled for March, the Czech Republic will face Ireland.
"We will play against Ireland. They are currently, perhaps, in their best sporting form.
They defeated Portugal and secured victory in Hungary to advance to the next stage. Importantly, we will be playing on home ground.
Ireland is a very determined team; they defend superbly and possess great mental resilience. If we want to qualify for the World Cup, we must show greater desire than they do.
It’s always crucial to play more with your head than just with your legs. I experienced that myself 20 years ago," Nedvěd said in an interview with the Czech Football Association's official website.
The winner of the match between the Czech Republic and Ireland will go on to face either Denmark or North Macedonia in the final. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
