In India's charming city of Goa, the intellectual battles - the 2025 Chess World Cup (FIDE World Cup 2025) - have reached their peak. This competition is significant not only because it determines the winner, but also because it is an important stage on the path to determining the future chess king.
Historical Uzbek derby
The semi-final stage of the competition was both joyful and exciting for Uzbek sports enthusiasts. The reason is that two talented compatriots - Javokhir Sindarov and Nodirbek Yakubboyev - faced each other on the threshold of the final.
In the "clash of brothers," which was full of extremely uncompromising and intense struggles, Javokhir Sindarov won with a score of 2.5:1.5. This victory gave not only a place in the final, but also a ticket to the World Chess Tournament for the first time in the history of Uzbek chess.
Now, in the decisive final match, Javokhir will compete for the main prize against the strong Chinese grandmaster Wei Yi.
Nodirbek also has the opportunity
And for Nodirbek Yakubboev, who lost in the semi-final, everything is not over. He will compete against Andrey Yesipenko, who is competing under a neutral flag for third place and an important ticket. If our compatriot wins, he will also become a participant in the Candidates Tournament.
Candidates Tournament: Cyprus Calling
