The current contract of Bayern Munich's French central defender Dayot Upamecano is valid until the end of the season. However, the media speculates that he might transfer to top clubs such as Real Madrid, PSG, or Liverpool.
Munich club's sporting director Max Eberl commented on the player's future as follows: "Upamecano is currently 27 years old – this is the prime age for a central defender. He wants to choose his future consciously, and that is the right decision.
Upamecano should not and will not stay just for the money – he is intrigued by our path and project. He is one of the best defenders in the world.
We support Dayot and want to keep him in the team. For us, this would be an internal 'royal transfer.'
Negotiations are ongoing. I sense that Upamecano feels comfortable with us and appreciates our chosen direction," Eberl stated in an interview with Sport Bild.
Bayern will play against Arsenal in the Champions League on Wednesday. Do not miss the live text commentary of this match.
