Martin Yakubko: Safonov Should Get Another Chance at PSG

Former Slovak national team footballer Martin Jakubko expressed his opinion regarding the future of Russian goalkeeper Matvei Safonov at France's PSG club. According to Jakubko, Safonov made good use of the opportunity given to him, and now he deserves another chance on the field.

“Safonov was given a chance, and he took advantage of it. Now he should be given another opportunity.

If I were the coach and my goalkeeper performed like that, I would definitely give him another opportunity,” RB Sport quoted Jakubko as saying. In the recent Intercontinental Cup match, Safonov saved four penalties, helping PSG defeat Brazil's Flamengo — the regular time ended 1-1, with a 2-1 victory in the penalty shootout.

Later, it was reported that the Russian goalkeeper suffered a fractured arm. Due to the injury, Matvei is expected to be sidelined for approximately one month.
