Renowned coach Yuri Semin has commented on former Zenit player Andrey Arshavin's proposal to call Alexander Kerzhakov and Artem Dzyuba back to the Russian national team. Earlier, FIFA had recommended re-registering one of the Russian team's goals in Kerzhakov's name.
If this decision is approved, it would make Kerzhakov equal to Dzyuba in terms of goals scored for the national team. Semin fully supported Arshavin’s suggestion, stating: "I completely support Arshavin's idea.
Both should play for the national team. Whoever scores the goal will be the winner," his comments were cited by "Sport-Express."
The Russian national team could not secure victories in its last two friendly matches against Peru and Chile. The team is scheduled to play its next friendly games in March 2026.
