Uzbekistan U-17 team has been drawn into a strong group at the Asian Cup

The draw for the 2026 U-17 Asian Cup has been announced. The ceremony was held in Kuala Lumpur, where the teams participating in the continental youth championship were divided into groups. As a result, the U-17 Uzbekistan national team fell into Group D, where it will compete with Australia, India and the DPRK.
It is clear at first glance: there is no easy way out. Australia is an opponent that relies on physical training and speed, always playing under pressure. The DPRK, on the other hand, is usually distinguished by order, discipline and a tough character. India, on the other hand, has been paying serious attention to youth football in recent years - so there is absolutely no room for complacency. In short, this group is a real test for Uzbekistan, but at the same time a great opportunity.
The most interesting thing is that this competition is not only about the cup. The U-17 Asian Cup also serves as a qualifier for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar. That is, every point, every goal here is a step towards the World Cup. The best 8 teams in the competition will qualify for the 2026 U-17 World Cup. So, the goal is clear: not only to get out of the group, but to enter the top eight.
According to the results of the draw, the groups were formed as follows:
Group “A”: Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Myanmar
Group “B”: Japan, Indonesia, China, Qatar
Group “C”: Republic of Korea, Yemen, Vietnam, UAE
Group “D”: Uzbekistan, Australia, India, DPRK

The most important conclusion for fans is one: Uzbekistan must play every game in Group “D” as if it were a final. In this tournament, the saying “we will fix it later” does not work. But let's be honest, such difficult groups prepare the team for the big stage faster. If the kids can take the pressure, then the door to the World Cup is very real. The most important thing right now is confidence, discipline and courage on the field.
