Norway renewed Olympic history with 17 gold medals in Italy

In Italy - at the Winter Olympics hosted by Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Norway ignited the real "golden regime": the national team set a new record as the country that won the most gold medals at one Olympics - 17 golds.

With this result, the Norwegians also broke their previous record: at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, they had 16 golds, and now they have 17. At the same time, they also have 9 silver and 10 bronze medals - that is, the total savings are also significant.

Leader in the informal table, competition is fierce too

In the unofficial team standings, the Norwegians are leading, and the USA and host Italy are fiercely competing for the next places. It depends on which table you look at: someone emphasizes the number of gold medals, someone emphasizes the total number of medals. The official Olympic medal table is constantly updated.

Klebo - one of the "main heroes"

At the Games in Italy, Norwegian skier Johannes Hössflot Klebo also inscribed his name on the page of history with even larger letters: he became a 10-time Olympic champion and broke the record for gold at the Winter Games.

He is said to have surpassed three of his compatriots, considered "Olympic legends," Björn Dæli, Marit Björgen, and Ole-Eynar Bjørndalen (each with 8 golds).

What's ahead?

The Winter Olympic Games will end on February 22. So, the records haven't "frozen" - until the very last days, every start is capable of giving a new surprise. But already now one thing is clear: this Olympiad has become not a "medal factory" for Norway, but a whole historical period.
