Broadcaster and well-known "Arsenal" supporter Piers Morgan has sparked discussion with a tongue-in-cheek claim that the club can still complete a kind of quadruple this season — but only if "Tottenham" are relegated from the Premier League. His remarks came after a painful defeat for Mikel Arteta’s side in the English League Cup final.
"Arsenal" lost 2-0 to "Manchester City" at Wembley, a result that ended their chance of winning four major trophies in one campaign. Before that defeat, Arteta’s team had been chasing an ambitious haul that included the Premier League, the Champions League, the FA Cup and the League Cup. With one of those trophies now out of reach, the traditional version of a quadruple is no longer possible.
Morgan reacted in his usual dramatic style, focusing not only on "Arsenal"’s disappointment but also on the misfortune of their North London rivals. He recalled the atmosphere inside Wembley during "Tottenham"’s Premier League match against "Nottingham Forest", which ended in a 3-0 defeat for Spurs. According to Morgan, every goal scored by "Nottingham Forest" was met with loud celebrations from "Arsenal" fans in the Bobby Moore Suite.
He said he had never seen "Arsenal" supporters celebrate an opposition goal with such genuine joy. Morgan then joked that his dream of a quintuple had collapsed, but argued that a different kind of quadruple remained alive: winning the Champions League, the Premier League and the FA Cup, while also seeing "Tottenham" drop out of the top flight.
Despite the sarcastic tone, his comments reflect the contrasting positions of the two North London clubs this season. "Arsenal" sit at the top of the Premier League table and remain firmly in contention for major honors. "Tottenham", meanwhile, are down in 17th place and only one point above the relegation zone, leaving their fans anxiously watching the bottom of the standings.
Morgan ended his message by urging "Arsenal" fans to stay united and keep believing for the rest of the season. Borrowing the spirit of wartime rhetoric, he called on supporters to move forward, never surrender and chase victory. While his version of a quadruple was clearly meant as a joke, it underlined both the confidence surrounding "Arsenal"’s campaign and the delight many of their fans are taking in "Tottenham"’s struggles.
