Andrei Arshavin on Khusanov's humility and his first impressions in England

Russian football star Andrei Arshavin, during a visit to Tashkent, spoke with Uzbek national team defender Abdukodir Khusanov and shared his thoughts on his behavior after his transfer to Manchester City.

Arshavin noted that Abdukodir, despite the large transfer fee, seems very modest. “We talked to him and he seemed to me like an ordinary guy, a graduate of the institute and an ordinary person in sportswear. There were a lot of bodyguards around him, but he wanted to be alone. In a new environment, he still doesn’t understand how to behave and how to feel, he feels a little uncomfortable,” Arshavin said.

Abdukodir Khusanov is one of the most famous and talented footballers in Uzbekistan. He studied at the Bunyodkor academy and began his professional career abroad - in 2022 at the Belarusian club Energetik-BGU.

In the summer of 2023, he moved to Lens, the then vice-champion of the French championship. After a season and a half, Abdukodir moved to the English Premier League, and on January 20, 2025, Manchester City transferred him for 40 million euros, starting a generational change in the team. Five days later, Khusanov made his debut against Chelsea.

In February, he scored his first goal in the FA Cup against Leyton Orient, and on March 24, 2026, he won the English League Cup with the "City". Khusanov's performance in the decisive match against Arsenal was highly appreciated by fans and experts.

In turn, Andrei Arshavin is also an experienced player who has played in the English Premier League. Arshavin, who defended the honor of Zenit in Russia, played for the London club Arsenal from 2009 to 2013.

Through this interview, fans once again learned that Abdukodir Khusanov is not only amazing in terms of his professional potential, but also as a simple and humble person.
