Real Madrid President Florentino Perez has decided to dismiss Alvaro Arbeloa following disappointing results this season. Although the head coach enjoys support from the locker room and certain members of the club's board, the president believes it is time for a change in the team. Goal.com reports this.

The Madrid side will finish the current season without a trophy and currently trail Barcelona by 9 points in the Spanish championship. Arbeloa, who replaced Xabi Alonso in January 2026, established good relations with the players but failed to ensure consistent results. According to Perez, the current win rate is insufficient for the club's high standards.

Disagreements have arisen within the club administration regarding this matter. Some executives argue that the 43-year-old specialist should be given an opportunity to rebuild the team. However, according to journalist Jorge Picon, Florentino Perez remains firm in his position that a managerial change is necessary.

In 22 matches under Arbeloa's leadership, Real Madrid recorded 14 wins and 7 losses. The team lost to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final, was eliminated from the Copa del Rey, and lost to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarterfinals. Consequently, the club is considering candidates such as Jose Mourinho, Jurgen Klopp, Didier Deschamps, Mauricio Pochettino, and Lionel Scaloni.

A final decision on the manager's future will be made in June after assessing the availability of candidates and the general consensus of the leadership. For now, the team will play its remaining La Liga matches while preparing for the summer transfer window and anticipated major changes.
