Vasilije Kostov has been involved in 21 goals this season

A new star is rising in Serbian football. Vasilije Kostov, a 17-year-old attacking midfielder from the Red Star Belgrade academy, has caught the attention of Europe's top clubs with his prolific performances. Having made his senior debut this season, he has already reached a tally of 21 goals and assists. His talent has sparked interest from teams such as Arsenal, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich, according to a report by Goal.com.

Born in Belgrade in May 2008, Kostov has been part of the Red Star system since the age of seven. He first gained expert attention at just 15 years old by contributing to 20 goals for the U-17 team. Notably, his goals in the "Eternal Derby" against Partizan turned him into a fan favorite. In April 2025, he made his official debut in the Serbian SuperLiga.

Under the guidance of the legendary Dejan Stankovic, who currently leads the team, Kostov has achieved further growth. Primarily operating as a "number ten," his playing style is highly reminiscent of Isco. The player became a key leader for his team by scoring six goals in six matches between February and March, characterized by his dynamic movement.

Former head coach Vladan Milojevic highly praised the young talent's work ethic. He noted that Kostov stands out for his adherence to coaching instructions and his relentless commitment to self-improvement. Although the player still has room to improve in defensive actions, his technique and vision suggest he is destined to become a world-class star.
