Laporta decides to delay Flick's contract extension

Barcelona President Joan Laporta has expressed full confidence in the club's current sporting project. Emphasizing the importance of maintaining stability and relying on existing players, he highly praised the work of head coach Hansi Flick and midfielder Pedri. Goal.com reports on this.

Laporta addressed the issue of extending the contract with the German specialist. According to him, Flick does not currently feel the need to renew the agreement, and all matters will be resolved calmly at the end of the season.

The President noted the coach's professionalism and suggested that a long-term agreement might lead to a sense of complacency for a manager.

The club head stated his commitment to the "La Masia" academy philosophy regarding transfer policy. He added that he has no intention of strengthening the team just for the sake of transfers, noting that the squad already possesses a world-class goalkeeper like Xuan Garsiya and a solid core.

Additionally, Laporta criticized the international match calendar set by FIFA. The injury sustained by Brazilian Raphinha while on national team duty was a cause for the president's dissatisfaction.

He demanded that the international organization develop a new calendar that takes the interests of major clubs into account.

At the conclusion of the interview, Laporta also spoke warmly about young star Pedri. He emphasized that although Pedri did not graduate from the academy, he perfectly embodies the Barcelona style on the pitch.
