Lionel Messi in Argentina squad: Paulo Dybala left out

Argentina national team head coach Lionel Scaloni has announced an initial 55-man preliminary squad for the 2026 World Cup. The list includes legendary captain Lionel Messi, who is preparing for the final tournament of his career. This is reported by Goal.com .
Along with the Qatar 2022 winners, the squad features stars playing in the English Premier League, including Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez and Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez. Young talents like Alejandro Garnacho have also earned the coach's trust.
However, the announced list was full of unexpected decisions. Roma star Paulo Dybala, who has appeared in 40 matches, and former Atletico Madrid forward Angel Correa were left out. This situation indicates that Scaloni is making tactical changes.
The coaching staff chose Parma representative Mateo Pellegrino and Roma player Matias Soule to replace Dybala. The final 26-man squad must be formed from the current 55 players by May 30.
