Wayne Rooney says Premier League will become more competitive if Pep Guardiola leaves

Former England and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney believes the Premier League title race will become much more interesting if Pep Guardiola leaves Manchester City.
Rooney believes there is no guarantee that Manchester City will remain as stable and successful after Pep. He cited the period after Sir Alex Ferguson left Manchester United as an example. He also recalled how difficult the situation was for Unai Emery at Arsenal after Arsene Wenger.
"There is no guarantee that Man City will be as successful after Pep. I think they will have problems. We saw how difficult it was to replace Ferguson. Just like it was hard for Emery to replace Wenger at Arsenal," said Rooney.
According to the former striker, the issue is not just about who replaces Guardiola. Pep's reputation, influence on the team, playing philosophy, and even his role in transfer policy are of great importance to City.
Rooney also touched on reports that Enzo Maresca could become the Manchester City head coach. He believes Maresca could be a good specialist, but it is not easy to influence the club at Pep's level.
"They say Maresca is coming, but I don't think he will have the same impact as Pep. The title race will truly be more open, and the fight in the Premier League next season will be very interesting," said Rooney.
He believes the situation in the English championship could be quite uncertain next season. A new coach is expected at City, and there are changes at Chelsea. Rooney did not rule out the possibility of some updates at Manchester United and Arsenal as well.
For this reason, he emphasized that the Premier League title race will be more open, intense, and harder to predict than before.
In short, Rooney believes that if Pep leaves, City will not automatically continue to dominate as before. Guardiola's departure is not just a coaching change, but a major test for the entire system. For the Premier League, this is a new intrigue: the title race could return to a "who will win?" mode.
