According to Sky, the goalkeeper's recovery is progressing well, but a slight risk remains. The 40-year-old shot-stopper decided not to take any chances, considering the upcoming World Cup and his starting position in the Germany national team. Jonas Urbig will replace him in the final.

For the 22-year-old backup goalkeeper, this will be his 20th match of the season and the most important game of his career. Manuel Neuer was sidelined in December, February, and March this season due to muscle fiber tears. He was substituted as a precaution during the 5-1 win over 1. FC Köln on the final matchday of the Bundesliga.
