Bruno Fernandes sets Premier League assist record

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has become the player with the most assists in a single Premier League season in history. The Portuguese midfielder recorded his 21st assist of the season in Sunday's match against Brighton, surpassing the records of legends Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne. This is reported by Goal.com .
The historic milestone was achieved on the final matchday of the season. The playmaker, who transferred from Sporting for 65 million euros in 2020, delivered a corner kick that Patrick Dorgu headed into the net. Thus, Fernandes broke the record of 20 assists in a single season held by Henry and De Bruyne. He also scored 8 goals this season and was named Premier League Player of the Season.
Following this achievement, Fernandes shared his emotions. "It's exciting to even think about it, because we are talking about Kevin and Thierry — they are among the greatest players in the history of our league. Being mentioned alongside them is a great honor for me," the Manchester United captain told Sky Sports.
Despite his personal success, Fernandes prioritized teamwork. He has managed to score 106 goals in 327 appearances for Manchester United. "If my teammates couldn't convert the chances, my assists would mean nothing. That's why I am grateful to them for these records," he added.
Now, Fernandes will focus on his performances for the Portugal national team. Although his current contract with the club runs until 2027, the Manchester United board is planning to offer their captain an improved new deal.
