iOS 18.4 beta improves CarPlay interface for bigger displays

Apple has quietly updated CarPlay in iOS 18.4 beta, introducing a third row of icons for larger screens. This change enhances usability and modernizes the interface for vehicles with big displays.

Previously, CarPlay only supported two rows of icons, which didn’t always look optimal on larger screens. Now, the icons have been resized and rearranged, making the layout cleaner and more user-friendly. The update applies to displays 11 inches and larger and will be available to all users once iOS 18.4 is officially released.

Meanwhile, users are still waiting for Apple’s announcement on the next-gen CarPlay, which was initially expected in 2024.
