Apple's new smartphones may become 30 percent more expensive due to tariffs imposed by the administration of US President Donald Trump. This is reported by Reuters.
According to analysts surveyed by the agency, Apple may mitigate the negative impact of tariffs by increasing the price of its products, including the iPhone, by 30-40 percent. According to Neil Shah, head of Counterpoint Research, Apple will have to increase prices by a third to cover import tariffs.
It is noted that Apple has moved part of its production from China to India and Vietnam, but these countries have also imposed tariffs of 26 and 46 percent, respectively. “We expect Apple to postpone any significant price increases until the fall, when the iPhone 17 is expected to be released,” said analyst Angelo Zino.
Rosenblatt Securities analysts predict that the price of Apple’s cheapest smartphone, the iPhone 16e, could rise from $599 to $856. In turn, the price of the iPhone 16 will increase from $799 to $1,142, and the flagship iPhone 16 Pro Max with 1TB of memory will increase from $1,599 to $2,300.
Ming-Chi Ko, a reputable insider, said that Apple may raise product prices or expand production in India to combat import tariffs in the United States.
