Google Pixel to get double-tap screen off gesture

Google is adding a new gesture for Pixel phones in Android 16: double tap to turn off the screen, reports Rozetked. The feature will be available under "System" → "Gestures" and will initially work only on the lock screen.

Unlike Xiaomi and OnePlus, where this gesture has been available for a while, Google is only now introducing it to its Pixel devices. It’s a convenient addition, especially for quickly turning off the screen after checking notifications or widgets.

Currently, in Android 16 QPR1, the gesture is limited to the lock screen, but support for the home screen may be added in future updates.
