According to a new decree aimed at the socio-economic development of Karakalpakstan, a special zone for cryptocurrency mining will be established in the region. This is provided for in the presidential decree "On Measures to Accelerate the Socio-Economic Development of Karakalpakstan."
According to the decree, by September 2025, a project for the establishment of a special mining zone must be developed and implemented. The use of renewable energy sources for mining will be allowed in this region, which is an important step towards minimizing environmental impact and improving energy efficiency.
The electricity supply to the special zone must be connected to the unified system, and in this case, special tariffs will be applied. This means that the cost of electricity for mining in the zone will differ from other regions. This step is aimed at supporting and developing the cryptocurrency industry.
The draft decree will be coordinated with the relevant ministries and agencies in November 2025 and submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers. It is expected that these measures will help strengthen the country's economy and create new opportunities.
Mining is the process of extracting cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, and registered individuals must obtain special permits for this activity. In Uzbekistan, mining activities are prohibited without permission.
