Apple sues Oppo and ex-engineer over trade secrets

Apple has filed a lawsuit against its former engineer Chen Shi and Chinese company Oppo, Rozetked reported. The lawsuit alleges industrial espionage and theft of trade secrets related to Apple Watch technology.

According to Apple, Shi worked as a highly paid sensor systems architect from January 2020 to June 2025, with access to internal designs, documents, and product roadmaps. Just three days before leaving, he allegedly copied 63 files from a secure folder to a USB drive.

Apple is asking the court to prohibit Oppo and Shi from using or disclosing its trade secrets, as well as to recover damages and attorney fees. Oppo denied the allegations, stating it respects trade secrets and will cooperate with the court.
