Smartphone manufacturers around the world are preparing to increase the price of new and modern devices. Information about this was distributed through the publication DigiTimes.
The publication's sources explained the increase in smartphone prices mainly due to production costs and expenses. This was also due to Taiwan's major processor manufacturing corporation TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) having notified its partners in advance about plans to increase product prices by 5-10%. This, in turn, is expected to significantly affect the value of devices in the new smartphone market.
Processors manufactured by TSMC will also be used in the new iPhone models, which will be presented in September. The flagship devices of the Samsung Galaxy S26 are also planned to be presented with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 chips manufactured by TSMC. At the same time, the most modern Android smartphones will also be released with Qualcomm processors. Smartphones at new prices are likely to enter the market by the end of 2025.
Sources say that smartphone manufacturers are looking for ways to reduce their dependence on TSMC. For example, Samsung could return to producing models that would compete with Qualcomm chips using its Exynos processors. This step can help companies maintain their price and technology advantages.
Thus, smartphone manufacturers are striving to increase prices and strengthen their position in the market with new models. This indicates the need for users to revise their plans when purchasing new devices.
