China introduces robot chef: a daily life assistant

At the IFA 2025 international exhibition held in Berlin, another innovation was presented. China’s Ant Group introduced to the public its new development — the humanoid robot Robbyant R1. This device stands out by being able not only to cook food but also to act as a guide in museums or as an assistant in pharmacies.

R1 can perfectly perform various tasks in the kitchen: selecting ingredients, working at the stove, cooking dishes, and serving them at the table. It understands what needs to be done from beginning to end: from picking up a spatula to serving the dish. All this is made possible thanks to the BaiLing artificial intelligence system integrated into the robot.

The accuracy of work is ensured by a spatial perception system. The robot can distinguish between a knife, a cutting board, or vegetables, and it operates as carefully as possible. Special sensors and algorithms allow it to carry out movements efficiently and safely.

According to company representatives, R1 can be used not only in restaurants but also in healthcare institutions, tourism, and elderly care. Therefore, the robot is planned to be used widely not only in the service sector but also in daily life.

It is known that Ant Group is part of Alibaba Group. It was reported that the company is already working on establishing cooperation with European partners. Experts believe that this innovation could radically change restaurants and the service industry worldwide in the future.
