Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov held a meeting with representatives of the US company Amazon Kuiper, during which issues of cooperation in strengthening digital infrastructure and improving comprehensive high-speed internet services were discussed. Following the conversation, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry and Amazon Kuiper Commercial Services LLC.
In accordance with the document, directions for launching high-speed internet through the Project Kuiper satellite network and developing telecommunications networks in the country have been defined. This will serve, first of all, to expand access to the Internet for remote areas, schools and hospitals, and business entities.
Amazon Kuiper is a satellite internet-responsible division of Amazon Corporation that aims to provide high-speed and low-delay communication worldwide via low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. Such solutions facilitate the transmission of large amounts of data, allowing for improving the quality of video conferencing, distance learning, telemedicine, and digital services.
Within the framework of the memorandum, it is planned that the parties will work together on the implementation of technical solutions, ensuring the stability of the industry, and delivering services to the general public. Overall, the project will contribute to an increase in the coverage and quality of digital services in the country and increase efficiency in various sectors of the economy.
