Why is Apple delaying the release of the foldable iPhone?

According to the Japanese investment firm Mizuho Securities, Apple has postponed the production of its first foldable iPhone model until 2027.

The company explained this delay by the need to further improve the smartphone's design. Additionally, the display production plan for the new device has been reduced from the previously set 13 million units to 9 million. The foldable model is expected to be introduced as part of the iPhone 18 series.

Previously, Bloomberg reported that the foldable iPhone could be released in the fall of 2026. It will be similar to Android devices that open in book form. The new model is expected to feature an 8-inch main OLED display and a 5-inch external display.
