Apple to 3D print future iPhone cases

Apple is preparing to fundamentally change its device manufacturing process. According to Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, the tech giant plans to manufacture iPhone and Apple Watch cases using 3D printers in the future. Currently, the company has already successfully tested this method on the titanium parts of the Apple Watch Ultra 3 model. Reports ixbt.com.
The main goal of switching to the new technology is to increase production efficiency and reduce costs. Traditional metalworking methods generate a large amount of waste, while 3D printing allows for the use of material with almost no loss. Furthermore, this method allows engineers to create complex internal structures that cannot be achieved with traditional machinery. This helps to strengthen the moisture protection of the devices and increase the durability of antenna components.
Currently, Apple's industrial designers and operations staff are actively working on adapting 3D printing technology for aluminum. If this process is completed successfully, we may see next-generation Apple devices with 3D-printed cases on the market in the coming years. As a reminder, Mark Gurman previously accurately predicted information about the iPhone 17e model and its price.
