Scientists of Uzbekistan have created a lightweight material that filters air and water

Scientists of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan have created a new generation of material that effectively purifies air and water. Researchers have invented a hybrid aerogel based on nanocellulose, which is environmentally safe and does not harm the natural environment.
In the porous structure of this material, toxic substances are quickly absorbed, effectively trapping harmful gases in the air and heavy metals in water. Therefore, it can be used in environmental filtration systems and in industry.
"The new invention is very effective not only in filtering toxic gases in the air, but also in purifying water from heavy metals. In addition, it can be widely used in construction: it insulates houses from heat and cold, reduces noise, and, despite being lightweight, retains its strength," the official statement of the Academy of Sciences said.
Scientists note that this innovation will usher in a new era in the development of environmental technologies and can be widely used in industry and housing construction.
