Apple unexpectedly discontinues 256GB version for Mac mini buyers
In brief

Apple has removed the 256 GB version of its Mac mini from sale, following warnings of supply shortages for its Mac mini and Studio computers. The entry-level model, which was previously priced at $600, is now unavailable, forcing customers to pay $800 for the next available option. Experts note that the cost of the 256 GB NAND flash memory is relatively low, suggesting that similar price adjustments could occur with the upcoming MacBook Neo models, where the price difference between versions will be only $100.

Apple has removed one of its Mac mini models from sale after warning that its Mac mini and Studio computers would face shortages for several months. Contrary to expectations, it was not an expensive model that was discontinued, but the cheapest base version. This was reported by Ixbt.com xabar.

The version with 256 GB of SSD storage is no longer available for purchase. The company has removed it from the configurator list on its official website.

As a result, the price of the cheapest Mac mini is now 800 dollars instead of the previous 600 dollars.

Users who intended to purchase a base Mac mini will now have to pay 200 dollars more. Experts note that the cost of 256 GB of NAND flash memory is significantly lower, even when taking current prices into account.

It is not excluded that a similar situation may occur in the future with MacBook Neo laptops. However, the price difference between versions there is only 100 dollars.
