The Russian State Duma considers new measures to combat fraud

Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin announced that the laws adopted against fraud are showing results. According to him, in the first quarter of 2026, fraud cases decreased by 18.3%, remote crimes by 22.7%, online thefts by 14.1%, and crimes in the field of computer information by 45.3%. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports.

Also, the number of appeals from citizens to the Central Bank regarding financial fraud issues has decreased by 40%. Volodin emphasized that these results were achieved through systematic work and strict legislative measures.

In the near future, the parliament will consider new draft laws providing for the labeling of international calls, the introduction of special SIM cards for children, and the restoration of access to accounts on the Gosuslugi platform only through secure methods.

Vyacheslav Volodin added that final decisions are planned to be reached by May. These new standards will serve to more effectively protect citizens from the illegal actions of cybercriminals and fraudsters.
