Starlink provides high-speed internet to remote areas of East Timor

East Timor has implemented one of the largest digital initiatives in its history. Now, residents of 450 remote villages have access to high-speed internet via Starlink satellite communication. The project was implemented as part of the digital modernization program by the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Ministry of State Administration. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .

Vorakai Lda, Starlink's official partner in East Timor, played a key role in installing the infrastructure. This company connected regions that previously lacked stable communication and telecommunications infrastructure to the global network. Government representatives stated that this project is the biggest step toward eliminating the digital divide in the country.

The new network allows for the digitalization of public services even in the most remote areas. Rural residents can now access education, healthcare, and administrative services remotely without traveling for hours to cities. According to Vorakai Lda representatives, the country is making a "digital leap" that will fundamentally change living standards and economic opportunities.

Starlink currently serves over 10 million active users in about 160 countries and territories. The company continues to expand its satellite network and launched an average of over 70 satellites per week in 2025. Additionally, SpaceX plans to increase daily equipment production to 50,000 units by 2026.
