Android introduces a feature to protect users from doomscrolling

Google has added a new "Pause Point" feature to the Android operating system to help users avoid wasting time. This innovation forces users to take a 10-second break when opening apps they have marked as distracting. This is reported by Techcrunch.com reports .
Apps like TikTok, Instagram, X, and YouTube often trap users due to time-stealing algorithms. "Pause Point" interrupts this process, giving the user a chance to reconsider their decision before opening the app.
Google is taking this step not only out of concern for user mental health but also in response to growing international legislative demands regarding the harmful effects of social media. Company representatives state that the goal is to provide people with tools to disconnect from the digital world and make more conscious decisions.
When the new feature is activated, the user is prompted to perform breathing exercises or engage in more productive activities instead of scrolling. For example, the system may suggest alternative apps such as reading books, fitness, or audiobooks.
