WeChat and Alipay to integrate with Uzbekistan's payment systems

Chinese payment systems WeChat and Alipay may be integrated with Uzbekistan's national payment systems. This was announced by Miraziz Mirhayetov, Deputy Director of the Payment Systems Department at the Central Bank, during a press conference, as reported by Kursiv Media.​

According to him, technical negotiations on the integration have already begun and may be completed in the near future.​

"Currently, discussions are underway to allow foreign tourists to make payments seamlessly upon arrival in Uzbekistan in the first phase. In the second phase, it is planned that Uzbek citizens will be able to use national payment systems when traveling to China," he noted.​
