
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed regional and district authorities to create jobs and boost export potential in Khorezm during a development meeting, the kursiv.media website reported.
Despite the growth of small and medium-sized businesses and an improving economy, the poverty rate in Khorezm remains at 12%. The region has 45,000 unemployed people, and only one enterprise operates with a turnover of 1 trillion soums.
At the meeting, the president noted that Khorezm has strong potential for tourism development. In 2024, the region exported $400 million worth of tourism services, but the total potential is estimated at $2 billion.
Mirziyoyev expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the governors of Khiva, Khiva district, and Yangiarik in supporting business development for tourism. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
