Uzbekistan to open malls exclusively for national brands

On May 26, under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a videoconference was held on the development of local industry, NOVA24.uz reported.

The President stated that over 4,000 factories are currently operating in Uzbekistan producing clothing, leather goods, and shoes, but there are no shopping centers that centralize national products under one roof.

As a solution, Uzbekistan will launch a new chain of malls called “Mall of Uzbekistan”, where only domestic products will be sold. Shops will be offered at minimal rent.

Tax incentives were also introduced:
• 2% profit tax and 1% social tax for textile and leather companies hiring at least 15% low-income workers.
• This threshold has been lowered to 7.5%, and people with disabilities are now also included in the quota. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
