Official welcoming ceremony for Italian Prime Minister held in Samarkand
An official welcoming ceremony for Italian Prime Minister Giorgi Meloni was held in Samarkand on May 29, the presidential press service reported.


As reported, a guard of honor was formed in the square in front of the Congress Center. Shavkat Mirziyoyev warmly welcomed the high-ranking guest and invited him to the podium. The military orchestra performed the national anthems of the two countries. The leaders passed by the guard of honor and greeted the members of the official delegations.


Then the high-level talks began.


Italian Prime Minister to Samarkand visit

Italian Prime Minister Giorgi Meloni arrived in Uzbekistan on an official visit on May 28 at the invitation of Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The Prime Minister was met by the Uzbek leader at the Samarkand International Airport. Then the heads of state visited Registan Square in Samarkand and the historical and ethnographic park "Eternal City" at the Silk Road Samarkand International Tourism Center. A cultural program was presented, including performances by dance groups.


The high-level talks in Samarkand will consider issues of further strengthening the Uzbek-Italian strategic partnership and expanding multifaceted cooperation. The focus will be on promoting innovative cooperation and humanitarian exchange projects. The signing of a set of bilateral agreements is expected to be the final stage.
