Mandatory insurance coverage will increase by 2 times from January 2026

Starting from 2026, the mandatory insurance coverage for vehicle owners' civil liability in Uzbekistan will be increased to 80 million som (currently 40 million som). Additionally, from April 1, 2026, a Unified Insurance Billing System will be introduced, according to «Gazeta.uz».

On July 23, 2025, the Government of Uzbekistan adopted a decision to ensure the implementation of the President’s decree “On Comprehensive Measures for the Development of the Insurance Market” from March 1, 2024 [PQ-108].

According to this decision, insurance tariffs were revised, and insurance sums and premiums were aligned with market trends. Starting from January 1, 2026, the mandatory insurance coverage for vehicle owners' civil liability will be increased to 80 million som, which will help cover damages caused to the property, life, and health of individuals injured in traffic accidents.

A mechanism for issuing limited and unlimited policies depending on the number of drivers has been established. The procedure for handling insurance claims and disputes involving at-fault insurers has been clarified.

For monitoring the execution of mandatory insurance, responsible bodies have been designated, and a system for the automated exchange of information between state agencies has been established.

From April 1, 2026, the Unified Insurance Billing System will be introduced to ensure centralized accounting of insurance premiums during policy issuance.
