The flow of Indians visiting Uzbekistan has increased sharply

The number of Indian guests coming to Uzbekistan has sharply increased, reports the National Statistics Committee. According to new data, nearly 28,500 Indian citizens visited our country from January to May 2025. This figure is 5,300 people, or 22.7 percent higher than during the same period last year.

Experts explain this growth by close cooperation and advanced opportunities in tourism, service, education, and business sectors between Uzbekistan and India. In particular, sources note that recent years’ openness policy, visa-free regime, and expansion of travel routes have given a strong impetus to Indian tourism.

Looking at the purposes of travel for January–May, the situation is as follows:

  • Tourism and recreation: 17,956 people;
  • Business trips: 7,557 people;
  • Education and study: 2,710 people;
  • Visiting relatives: 253 people;
  • Trade and business: 10 people.

It is especially worth noting that the share of those arriving for tourism and recreation is dominant, indicating that Uzbekistan’s historical and natural beauty, modern services, and national traditions are becoming increasingly popular among Indian citizens.

At the same time, the number of visitors arriving for business and education has also sharply increased. This shows that economic cooperation and inter-university relations between the two countries are strengthening.

Conclusion: The sharp increase in the number of tourists and guests from India is opening new opportunities for Uzbekistan. The development of tourism, education, business, and services is having a positive effect on the country’s image. In the future, these numbers are expected to grow further and set new records.
