Tinting car windows may become cheaper

Tinting car windows may become cheaper

During the hot summer days, window tinting has become a relevant issue for many drivers in order to reduce the temperature inside the car and protect from sunlight.

There have been reports about the possible introduction of a new preferential regulation initiated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to this proposal, the cost of obtaining a permit for window tinting for M1 category vehicles (i.e., passenger transport vehicles) during the summer season — from May 1 to August 31 — may be significantly reduced.

Currently, individuals and legal entities are required to pay 412 thousand UZS for window tinting. Under the new proposal, this amount is planned to be reduced to one Base Calculative Value (BCV) — approximately 340 thousand UZS.

For foreign legal entities operating in Uzbekistan, the current tariff of 2,060,000 UZS may be reduced to 5 BCVs (1,700,000 UZS).

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, such concessions will not only create convenience for drivers but will also contribute to expanding official and legal window tinting activities. In addition, it is expected to have a positive impact on ensuring safety and comfort while driving the vehicle.

It should be noted that this change is currently only at the discussion stage. The proposal has been published on the Portal for Public Discussion of Regulatory Legal Documents, and the final decision will be made based on suggestions and opinions within the specified timeframe.
