Significant changes will take place in the Tashkent Metro in the near future. According to the press service of the metro, by the end of 2025, ticket offices at all stations in the capital will be completely closed, and the cashier position will be fully eliminated. This is aimed at automating the service process in the metro and improving operations through modern technologies.
According to the administration, the demand for the cashier position is gradually decreasing. As a result, the employment contracts of 204 cashiers were terminated, and they were dismissed. According to the metro’s plan, by the end of the year, modern automated ATMs and electronic ticket systems will be installed at all stations, which will allow the complete elimination of the cashier and senior cashier positions.
Special professional retraining courses will be organized for the dismissed employees. They will have the opportunity to choose one of the following areas: accounting, sewing, confectionery, and other modern professions. All tuition and training costs are covered by the metro.
The main goal of this initiative is to support the dismissed employees, create a stable source of income for them through learning a new profession, and improve their social status. In addition, automated systems will simplify the service process in the metro, and queues and time spent will be significantly reduced.
This new initiative by the metro will also provide conveniences for the residents of the capital: users will be able to purchase tickets quickly and efficiently, the need to stand in line at ticket offices will decrease, and the quality of service in urban transport will significantly improve.
Thus, the Tashkent metro system is implementing technology more broadly, prioritizing modernity and efficiency, and opening new opportunities for cashiers.
