12-year education system to be introduced in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan plans to introduce a 12-year education system, Kursiv.media reported.
Deputy Minister of Preschool and School Education Sardor Rajabov made the announcement.
He noted that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on education reforms.
The presentation highlighted that expanding preparatory preschool programs would lead to adopting a 12-year system.
This new structure is expected to improve the overall quality of education.
Discussions also included upgrading the education system, enhancing teacher qualifications, and increasing the share of teachers with higher education.
As part of this effort, targeted enrollment of teachers will be launched at the National Pedagogical University and regional universities.
The goal is to strengthen the workforce with skilled professionals in education.
Improving teacher training is a top priority in the reform process.
