The People's Democratic Party opposed the requirement for a driver's license to drive a moped and scooter, which is expected to take effect on October 1. This was announced in an official statement by the party.
The statement emphasized: "We believe it is necessary to postpone the requirement for a driver's license to drive a moped and scooter until next year, as well as to review the timing and amount of payment for obtaining the license and license plate." At the same time, it was noted that a deputy's inquiry on the issue will be submitted in the prescribed manner.
According to the figures provided by the party, today about 130 thousand young people work in the courier service. They mainly provide services on bicycles, mopeds, and scooters. It was noted that if the new procedure comes into force, there is a risk that hundreds of thousands of young people will lose their jobs and sources of income in a single day.
According to the NDP, the time allocated for the requirement of a driver's license for mopeds and scooters is insufficient. "True, the deadline was extended by the government. However, given the large number of applicants, the expediency of requesting a document in such a short time should be reviewed once again. Because in many cases, citizens working in this direction, striving to provide for themselves, solve their financial problems without expecting help from anyone," the statement says.
The party also emphasized the need to find innovative solutions to the problem that do not create difficulties for the population. "We ask to find a solution worthy of our state policy on this issue of high socio-economic importance, and we will submit a corresponding deputy inquiry on this matter," the party's statement concluded.
As a reminder, according to a Cabinet of Ministers decree dated August 9, 2024, moped and scooter drivers are required to obtain an "A" category driver's license starting October 1st. Previously, this requirement was postponed from March 1 to October 1.
