The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has fined three banks a total of 2.5 billion soums, Kursiv Media reported. The reason — violations of customer rights.
Distribution of fines:
– Hamkorbank — 955 million soums
– Davr Bank — 931 million soums
– TBC Bank — 615 million soums
According to the Central Bank, these banks are required to return illegally withheld funds to customers. The total amount to be refunded is about 34.8 billion soums.
Of the 121 complaints received by the regulator this year, 68 were resolved in favor of customers. The Central Bank emphasized that the efficiency of financial institutions should be assessed not only by profit or transaction volume, but also by their attitude toward consumers.
