An earthquake occurred at the Tashkent airport last night. It was reported that due to the earthquake in Kyrgyzstan, two aircraft flying to the capital - including Aeroflot flight - had to change their routes.
It was reported that the Russian airliner, flying from Moscow, made two circles during landing. This aircraft successfully landed at Tashkent airport at 01:50. At the same time, the MyFrighter cargo airline flight from Athens faced a similar situation. The plane circled in the waiting area for some time and waited for permission to land. This situation is assessed as a necessary measure from the point of view of flight safety.
At the same time, Uzbekistan Airways was forced to make changes to the schedule of some flights.
In particular, on October 6, flights HY553/HY554 on the Tashkent - Kuala Lumpur - Tashkent route were operated with a delay. The plane took off from Tashkent at 03:35. On the same day, flights HY301/302 on the Tashkent - Tel Aviv - Tashkent route also departed later than scheduled. This flight took place at 11:00, and Uzbekistan Airways JSC cited technical reasons as the main reason for the delay.
Experts emphasize that the delayed flights were carried out to ensure safety, and such measures are considered a natural phenomenon in international aviation practice. During the flights, crew members and airport services were in constant contact, and the safety of passengers was under full control.
For information, on the night of October 6, a 5.7 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Jalal-Abad region of Kyrgyzstan. The tremors were recorded at a depth of 10 kilometers, and local residents felt a strong tremor there - up to 7 points. The impact of the natural disaster was felt in a number of regions of Uzbekistan, including the capital Tashkent. Tashkent residents noted a slight tremor of the ground and the shaking of doors and windows during the night hours.
Despite concerns about the earthquake among citizens, no serious damage or emergency evacuation was observed at the airport. Currently, all flights at the Tashkent airport are operating as usual. Experts also do not rule out the possibility of temporary restrictions on air movement if possible seismic activity continues.
