Fines for selling expired products in Uzbekistan will be tripled

According to the decision of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, fines for selling expired food products will be tripled, Kursiv Uzbekistan reported.

These measures will also apply to products without a production date or expiration period indicated. The Competition Committee has been instructed to submit the relevant draft law to the government within two months.

Currently, fines for individuals amount to 3–10 BHM or 1.2 million – 4.2 million soums,

while for legal entities it is 7–10 BHM (2.8 million – 4.2 million soums).

After the new changes come into force, the maximum amount of the fine will exceed 12.3 million soums.

In addition, from March 2026, selling expired products will be completely prohibited.

Such products will be monitored through the digital marking system, and if their expiration date has passed, sales will be automatically blocked.

For your information, the digital marking system in Uzbekistan currently covers 115,100 types of products.
