Uzbekistan asked other countries for assistance to Afghanistan

Uzbekistan requested aid for Afghanistan from other countries

In a context of global political and economic turbulence, Uzbekistan has put forward strategic proposals aimed at strengthening practical cooperation within the CIS, UPL.uz reported. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid special attention to the economic stabilization of Afghanistan at the CIS Heads of State summit held in Dushanbe.

At the summit, the president proposed the joint implementation of major investment and infrastructure projects in Afghanistan. According to him, Uzbekistan is firmly committed to ensuring long-term peace and stability in Afghanistan.

This initiative is part of Tashkent’s comprehensive strategy to engage Afghanistan in regional economic processes. Uzbekistan is actively involved in projects such as the "Surkhan – Pul-i-Khumri" power transmission line and the Trans-Afghan railway.

These large-scale projects not only help restore Afghanistan’s economy, but will also provide the entire region with new transport corridors. The railway project envisages the construction of tracks in two standards: from the Uzbekistan border to Pakistan 1520 mm, and in Pakistan 1676 mm, which requires the construction of special terminals.

In his speech, Mirziyoyev emphasized that despite the declining role of international institutions, the CIS continues to maintain stability. According to him, Uzbekistan’s trade turnover with CIS countries increased by 11% last year.

To strengthen trade and economic ties, it was proposed to create a mechanism within the CIS Economic Council that can respond quickly to changes in external markets. This will facilitate the entry of agricultural products and other goods into CIS markets.

The president also addressed problems in the transport sector and proposed creating unified logistics centers. He noted the importance of eliminating "bottlenecks" in existing networks.

Additionally, Mirziyoyev proposed developing a new agreement to ensure mutual recognition of diplomas and qualifications among CIS states in the field of education. This should be implemented considering the development of the labor market.

Furthermore, initiatives were put forward to create a Venture platform in the CIS, prepare an innovative development program in the energy sector, and develop a cooperation plan in artificial intelligence.

Finally, Mirziyoyev supported the reappointment of Sergey Lebedev as CIS Secretary General and congratulated the President of Turkmenistan on assuming the chairmanship of the organization.
