What does the increase in jobs indicate?

The unemployment rate in Uzbekistan in the third quarter of 2025 was 4.9%, the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction reported. This is 0.8 points less than last year.

According to the ministry, the country's population has reached 37.8 million people. Labor resources amount to 20.35 million, and the economically active population - 15.57 million. Of these, 14.81 million people are employed, which is 579.6 thousand people more than last year.

The number of employees in the formal sector reached 8.58 million - a 17% increase. At the same time, the number of people working in the informal sector decreased by 26.9% to 4.38 million people.

The number of people working abroad reached 1.86 million, which is an increase of 512 thousand people.

This year, 4.45 million people are provided with income-generating work. The largest increase was in the service sector - 2.74 million people found jobs. 1.29 million jobs were created in agriculture, 172 thousand in construction, and 256 thousand through investment projects.

For information, the unemployment rate in the second quarter was 5.1%.
