Electronic cigarettes completely banned in Uzbekistan

Legislation related to electronic cigarettes has been sharply tightened in Uzbekistan. According to the new law adopted on November 27, the production, storage, transportation or sale of electronic cigarettes is now considered a serious crime.

According to the new amendments, if the production or import-export of tobacco products prohibited from circulation, and electronic nicotine delivery systems, is carried out in large quantities within the country, the liability becomes extremely strict:

— a fine from 123.6 million to 206 million soums,
— 2–3 years of corrective labor,
— 3–5 years of restriction of freedom,
— or 3–5 years of imprisonment.

The most important point — if a person voluntarily reports to state authorities about their actions and hands over the products prohibited from circulation, they are exempted from liability.

In addition, amendments were made to the law “On restricting the distribution and consumption of alcohol and tobacco products,” establishing a complete ban on the circulation of electronic cigarettes and their liquids.

It is stated that the new regulation is aimed at limiting the spread of nicotine devices and protecting the health of young people.
